Abstract
Idiopathic CNS inflammatory demyelinating disorders include multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), transverse myelitis, and optic neuritis. These disorders sometimes occur with established systemic autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren¡¯s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus and other organ?specific autoimmune diseases. We summarize the current evidence of systemic autoimmunity in MS and NMO, and discuss the practical implications for clinical management.
